Olutola O. Adetona, MD, MPH, CPI

Dr. Olutola O. Adetona is a highly accomplished pediatrician and clinical researcher(Phase I-IV) with an extensive career dedicated to advancing child and adult health and medical education. Most recently served as the VP/ Senior Medical Director and Certified Principal Investigator at Elligo Health Research and prior to this position was Medical Director and Certified Principal Investigator at Worldwide Clinical Trials Early Phase from June 2023 to November 2024, Dr. Adetona ensured protocol compliance and protected the rights and welfare of study participants while managing the medical care of subjects.
Before this role, Dr. Adetona was a Principal Investigator at Benchmark Research in San Antonio, Texas, from 2021 to 2022, and at Tekton Clinical Research also in San Antonio, Texas, from 2016 to 2021. He also owned and operated Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric Urgent Care from 2011 to 2021, where he provided comprehensive patient care and engaged in administrative tasks while mentoring students.
His experience in emergency medicine is robust, having worked as an Emergency Room Physician at Edinburg Children’s Hospital, North Central Baptist Hospital, Coastal Bend Emergency Services, and Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi TX. In these roles, he was responsible for patient care, administrative duties, and student education, demonstrating his dedication to both patient outcomes and the development of future healthcare professionals.
Dr. Adetona began his clinical research career as a Principal Investigator at Tekton Research, where he was integral in ensuring compliance with research protocols and managing investigational agents.
He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, completed his pediatric residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, and further trained at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. He earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in May 2012.
Dr. Adetona is a licensed physician in Texas and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Medical Board, American Academy of Pediatrics, Bexar County Medical Association, American Diabetes Association, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and the World Medical Association. He is fluent in English and is committed to advancing pediatric and adult medicine through research, education, and advocacy.
His contributions to the field are also reflected in his clinical trials participation across a wide range of disciplines and therapeutic areas, which are available upon request. Dr. Adetona continues to be a dedicated advocate for child and adult health, striving to improve patient outcomes and mentor the next generation of healthcare professionals.
